Middle East Peace Process Unraveling

LONDON Rapid progress must be made in the Middle East peace process or negotiations will unravel, Britain warned Friday. After a ninth Palestinian was declared dead in the West Bank town of Ramallah, shot in the eye by Israeli soldiers the previous day, Junior Foreign Minister Derek Fatchett said he was deeply shocked at the deaths and injuries. The violence broke out on Thursday after hundreds of thousands of Palestinians participated in marches throughout the West Bank and Gaza to mark the 50th anniversary of Al-Nakba the catastrophe they say befell them with the creation of state of Israel. The violence underscores the need for rapid progress in the Middle East peace process before mounting frustration causes it to unravel, said Fatchett. (AFP)
